Washington, D.C. – Today, Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) Co-Chairs Congresswomen Jackie Speier (CA-14), Lois Frankel (FL-21), and Brenda Lawrence (MI-14), and Vice Chairs Congresswomen Veronica Escobar (TX-16) and Sylvia Garcia (TX-29), and Freshman Representative Congresswoman Sara Jacobs (CA-53), and Whip Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) issued the following statement on the Supreme Court decision on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that overturned Roe v. Wade.

“Today’s Supreme Court decision will go down in history as one of its worst, most unjust decisions,” said the Members. “Women are not chattel, and the government should not have the right to mandate pregnancies. Every situation and pregnancy is different, and all people deserve the freedom to control their bodies and make personal decisions about their lives and futures. We will never give up the fight for access to full health care, which includes affordable abortion care regardless of zip code. That means that the House-passed Women’s Health Protection Act must become the law of the land.”
